Cal State LA’s Taesja Paopao picks up second Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week award this season

Taesja Paopao of Cal State LA has earned her second CCAA Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week award, this time for the week of Sept. 30-Oct. 6.

Paopao led the Golden Eagles to a pair of road victories to open the conference season with a shutout with a total of 10 saves. She earned her fourth shutout on Friday with seven saves in a 1-0 win at Chico State before collecting three saves in a 3-1 decision at Stanislaus State. The seven saves in a match ties for the third most in a match this season.

The senior goalkeeper from Oceanside, Calif., is the conference leader with a .625 Goals Against Average and a .868 saves percentage. Paopao is also second with 4.13 saves per game with 33 saves total, which is third best in the CCAA.  Click here to see the complete CCAA stats leaders

This is Paopao’s third career CCAA Defensive Player of the Week award and the second this season.

Cal State LA, now ranked No. 25, remains unbeaten at 5-0-3 (2-0-0 CCAA) and will host Sonoma State and Cal Poly Humboldt this week.
