Cal State East Bay’s Adan Corona was voted as the CCAA Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, after a pair of wins.
Corona led the Pioneers to road victories at Cal Poly Humboldt and Sonoma State as the only CCAA team to go 2-0 to start the conference season. Corona only needed three saves, including a couple of heroic game-changers, in the two CSUEB wins. At Humboldt on Friday, he made a crucial save on a penalty kick attempt that would have been the equalizer. Shortly after the PK, Corona made another clutch save to preserve the win.
The sophomore from Stockton, Calif., is tied for sixth in the CCAA in Goals Against Average (1.25).
