Stanislaus State’s Makeila Yancey has been named the FloCollege/CCAA Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 21-27.
Yancey was a key part of the Warriors defensive unit as Stan State recorded two more shutouts to extend its winning streak to four matches. The Warriors blanked Cal State San Bernardino, 2-0, on Friday and shutout No. 4 Cal Poly Pomona, 2-0, on Sunday to end the Broncos’ 14-match unbeaten streak.
The junior defender from Brentwood helped the Warriors move up to fourth place in the CCAA standings with three regular season matches to play. Yancey is the first Warrior to earn the CCAA Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week award since Malia Allen on Oct. 17, 2023.
