Sonoma State’s Jack Chapman is being recognized as the FloCollege/CCAA Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week after a fantastic week in net.
In two matches, Chapman picked up 14 saves and allowed just one goal to lead the Seawolves to a 1-1 mark. Sonoma State narrowly lost to Cal State Monterey Bay, 1-0, thanks to 10 stops by Chapman on Friday. He then picked up four saves in Sunday’s 2-0 win over San Francisco State. In 180 minutes of play, he saw 33 shots.
The sophomore goalkeeper from Phoenix, Ariz., is just the second CCAA goalkeeper to record 10 saves in a conference match this season. Chapman is second best in the league with 21 saves and a 4.07 saves per game average.
