Cal State San Marcos’ Madison Murr loves to play in Hawai’i. Murr won both tournaments on the Big Island last week to capture the FloCollege/CCAA Women’s Golfer of the Week for the third consecutive week.

Murr defended her titles at both the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate, Oct. 21-22, and the HPU Sharks Shootout Oct. 25-26. She blew away the field with a 7-under par 137 to win the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate at Village Course at Waikoloa to start the week. She wrapped-up the week in paradise with a 6-under 138 to win the tournament at Mauna Lani North in Waimea.

The senior from Los Alamitos, Calif., who won both of these tournaments last year as well, led Cal State San Marcos to a second place finish with a 595, four strokes behind Missouri-St. Louis at Dennis Rose. The No. 8 ranked Cougars won the Sharks Shootout by 13 shots over UT-Tyler with a 579 team score.

Murr shot 69-68 as the only two scores under 70 at Waikoloa. She won the tournament by nine strokes (three players finished second at +2). At Mauna Lani, Murr was one stroke better than Sonoma State’s Avery Foster.

This was Murr’s 10th career CCAA Women’s Golfer of the Week award, the second-most in CCAA history. She trails only CSUSM alum Jaime Jacob, who collected the honor 13 times in her career. Click here to see a complete list of past weekly award winners.
