Jack Blickenstaff of Cal State Monterey Bay made his return to the pitch and immediately recorded two shutouts, earning him the FloCollege/CCAA Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week award.
Blickenstaff had two clean sheets in a scoreless draw against Cal State San Marcos and in the Otters’ 2-0 win over Cal State East Bay last week. After missing the first 10 matches of the season with an injury, the senior from Fresno, Calif., played in all 180 minutes to record 10 saves, seven of them came on the road at CSUSM.
The 6-foot-7 goalkeeper was a 2023 CCAA Honorable Mention selection and had five shutouts in last year’s campaign.
The two shutouts already put Blickenstaff among the top seven in the CCAA in shutouts per game. The seven saves in a match is also the seventh best in a match this season.
