Tanner Gerhart of Stanislaus State has been chosen as this week’s CCAA Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, after winning the San Francisco State Invitational.
At the meet held at Golden Gate Park’s Speedway Meadows, Gerhart turned in a personal best time of 25:05.1 for the victory. Stan State had four other runners in the top 10 to post a team win, ahead of Chico State’s B team, 24-63.
The freshman from Copperopolis, Calif., improved on his best 8,000-meter time by 40 seconds on Saturday. He was three-plus seconds quicker than Jesue Villareal (unattached) and four seconds faster than Cal State East Bay’s Cole McKain, who was seventh at last year’s CCAA Championships.
Gerhart is the first Warrior to win the Men’s Cross Country weekly award since Sept. 12, 2022.
Stanislaus State will join the rest of the conference teams at the CCAA Cross Country Championships, on Oct. 25, at Woodward Park in Fresno.
