Destiny Moedano of Cal State LA selected as CCAA Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week

Cal State LA’s Destiny Moedano was an unanimous pick as this week’s CCAA Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, for the week of Sept. 23-29.

Moedano scored her first career goal as a defender while helping the Golden Eagles to blank Cal State Dominguez Hills, 3-0, on Saturday. The senior from Oceanside knocked in a banger from 30 yards out on a free kick to open Cal State LA’s scoring. As part of a stellar defensive unit, she played in all 90 minutes in the Golden Eagles’ shutout with only seven shots allowed (two on frame).

This is Moedano’s first career CCAA player of the week award and the second Defensive Player of the Week award for the Golden Eagles this season.

Cal State LA takes its 3-0-3 record on the road to take on Chico State Friday and Stanislaus State Saturday to begin CCAA play.
