For the second straight week, a Pioneer has captured the CCAA Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award. This time, the honor belongs to Mika Sayfurahman.
Sayfurahman scored both goals to help Cal State East Bay to a come-from-behind 2-2 draw against defending CCAA Tournament champ Cal State Marcos on Saturday. Trailing 2-0, she converted on a penalty kick in the 54th minute and scored the equalizer with less than two minutes left to play.
The junior midfielder from Livermore is tied for the CCAA lead with five goals this season. Sayfurahman is also tied for second with 10 points.

Last week, CSUEB junior forward Morgan Pearson was picked as the Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week after scoring a pair of goals.
Cal State East Bay, now 4-2-1, opens CCAA play on Friday at Cal Poly Humboldt.
