Miles Rice got off to a hot start as he led Chico State to two wins to earn this week’s Pixellot/CCAA Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week nod.

Rice scored a total of three goals with an assist for seven points as Chico State won a pair of 2-0 matches over Seattle Pacific and Western Washington, which was picked to win a share of the GNAC title.

The junior forward from Cameron Park started the year with a brace against the SPU Falcons on Thursday. He quickly scored a goal in the seventh minute and knocked in the second score just before the end of the match. In Saturday’s win over WWU, Rice assisted on an early goal, in the ninth minute, by Noah Ross and made it 2-0 five minutes later.

Chico State takes its 2-0 record north across the border this weekend to take on Simon Fraser and Saint Martin’s in British Columbia.
