Big week nets SF State's Tamiya Wilson CCAA Offensive Player of the Week honors

San Francisco State’s Tamiya Wilson has been named the CCAA Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 18-24. 

The 2022 CCAA Freshman of the Year averaged 6.2 kills and 7.0 points over six sets as San Francisco State swept two matches at home to improve to 3-1 in the CCAA. She totaled 37 kills, 19 digs, and five service aces. 

Wilson opened the weekend with a 20-kill, 14-dig performance against Cal State East Bay. The sophomore from Temecula hit .366 and averaged 7.33 points. 

She followed it up by hitting .517 with 17 kills against Cal State Monterey Bay on Saturday. Wilson had just two errors in 29 swings while putting down over half of her attempts. She added three aces and is now tied for eighth in the CCAA (19). 

Wilson's performance helped her rise in the conference rankings in numerous offensive categories. She is sixth in kills (3.62) and points (4.01) and 14th in hitting percentage (.256). Click here to see the CCAA leaders.

San Francisco State is currently tied for second in the CCAA with five other teams at 3-1 (7-5 overall). The Gators will go on the road to face two teams they are currently tied with in the standings. SF State will begin the weekend facing Cal State Dominguez Hills on Friday, Sept. 29, and conclude against Cal State LA on Saturday, Sept. 30. Both match times are set for 5 p.m.
