Chico State’s Peyton Johnson receives Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of Week award

Peyton Johnson for Chico State has been named the Pixellot/CCAA Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

Johnson’s vital saves against Stanislaus State this past Saturday helped lead the ‘Cats to a 2-1 win. Four of the six saves came in the first half. Johnson’s sixth save of the game, just after Chico State took the lead in the 86th minute, prevented the Warriors from tying the game with just two minutes to go. 

She currently has eight saves with a .727 saves percentage. The sophomore goalkeeper from San Diego has played 90 minutes in both of the Wildcat’s last two games. 

This is Johnson’s first career CCAA Player of the Week award. This is Chico State’s second Player of the Week Award this season. 

Chico State (5-2-0) plays in its first conference match of the season against Cal State East Bay on Friday, Sept. 30 at 4:30 p.m.
