Lucas Happy of Sonoma State will be pleased to know he’s been named the Men’s Golfer of the Week, the first award of the 2023 Fall season.

Happy shot a tournament low 66 in Tuesday’s third and final round to win the Sonoma State Men’s Fall Invitational at The Links at Bodega Harbour in Bodega Bay. He surpassed teammates Colin Huang and Ivan Sabian, each shot a 69 on Tuesday, for the victory.

The medalist honors marked the best tournament finish for the senior from Petaluma. 

Happy carded 70 and 74 on Monday and finished the tournament with 14 birdies and 28 pars. He led Sonoma State to an easy team win as well with the Seawolves scoring a 4-under par 276, 23 shots ahead of second-place Chico State.

Sonoma State returns to action, Oct. 2-3, at the Wildcat Invitational at Butte Creek Country Club in Chico.
