Taesja Paopao of Cal State LA snags Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week award

Taesja Paopao recorded 13 saves to lead Cal State LA as she’s been named the Pixellot/CCAA Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

Paopao picked up a clean sheet in a 0-0 tie against Azusa Pacific and conceded one goal in a 2-1 win over Biola University. She had seven saves against Biola, including a huge stop on a breakaway early in the second half. Against Azusa, she recorded six saves; one of them being on a dangerous free-kick where Paopao was able to preserve the tie. 

She currently has 21 saves with a .840 saves percentage. The junior goalkeeper from Oceanside has played every single minute so far this season for the Golden Eagles. 

This is Taesja’s first career CCAA Player of the Week award.

Cal State LA (2-1-2) will face Cal State Dominguez Hills this week in a non-conference match on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
