For the second time in three weeks, Chico State’s Emanual Padilla has been named the Pixellot/CCAA Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
Padilla registered two shutouts last week to lead the No. 8 ranked Wildcats to wins over Biola and Dominican, 2022 co-champions of the PacWest. Padilla, who has played in the bulk of minutes in goal, and the Wildcats are the only CCAA team that has not yielded a score this season.
Against Biola on Thursday, the junior from Santa Rosa recorded eight saves. He saved a critical penalty kick try in the 88th minute against the Eagles to preserve the 1-0 win. On Saturday versus Dominican, Padilla had two saves in Chico’s 3-0 win over the Penguins.
Padilla was named the Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week in week one after shutting out two GNAC opponents.
Chico State, which improved to 6-0, will face Stanislaus State in Turlock on Saturday in a non-conference match.
