Samantha Campion repeats as Volleyball's Offensive Player of the Week

For the second consecutive week, Cal Poly Pomona’s Samantha Campion has been voted the CCAA Offensive Player of the Week. (Sept. 11-17) 

The junior outside hitter averaged 4.5 kills per set and posted two double-doubles. She helped lead the No. 18 Broncos (9-1, 2-0 CCAA) to a 2-0 start on the road in conference play and extend their winning streak to six matches. Campion completed her week with 36 kills, 28 digs, five assists, and four blocks. 

Campion began the week with an 18-kill, 13-dig performance in a four-set win over Cal State Monterey Bay. She hit .267 percent. On Saturday, Campion registered her seventh consecutive double-figure kills match as she put down 18 finishers against Cal State East Bay. She now has 57 kills over her last three matches (12 sets). Campion matched a season-best with 15 digs in the contest.

The Aurora, Colo., native is now third in the CCAA in kills per set (3.85) and points per set (4.47).

Campion is the first CCAA student-athlete to earn a CCAA Player of the Week award in consecutive weeks since her teammate Caitie Mueller was named the CCAA Setter of the Week on Oct. 17 and Oct. 24, 2022. Click here for the complete list of past CCAA Volleyball Players of the Week.

Cal Poly Pomona will return home to host a pair of conference matches. The Broncos will welcome in Cal State LA (4-6, 2-0 CCAA) on Friday, Sept. 22 and Cal State Dominguez Hills (7-2, 2-0 CCAA) on Saturday, Sept. 23. The three teams are all in the top 4 of the CCAA standings.
