Broncos' Samantha Campion collects first career Offensive Player of the Week award

Cal Poly Pomona’s Samantha Campion has been voted the CCAA Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 4-10. 

Campion led Cal Poly Pomona to a perfect 4-0 record in the Bronco Fall Classic. The junior outside hitter had three double-doubles and averaged 4.21 kills per set. She accumulated 59 kills across the four victories. 

The Aurora, Colo., native hit .286 with double-figure kills in each match. She registered a career-high 21 kills in the tournament finale against Azusa Pacific, finishing with 24 total points. A match earlier, she hit .448 with 15 kills and 15 digs in a sweep over Simon Fraser. Campion added 48 digs, six blocks, eight assists, and eight service aces on the weekend.

This is Campion's first career CCAA Offensive Player of the Week award. She was named the CCAA Defensive Player of the Week last year for the same week (Sept. 5-11). Cal Poly Pomona will begin conference play this Friday, Sept. 15, at Cal State Monterey Bay. Game time is scheduled for 5 p.m.
