Jun 9, 2023

Cal Poly Pomona's Ayana Fields has been voted the CCAA Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive season.

The junior from Los Angeles put together one of the best seasons on the track in the country with four All-American awards. She also collected 25 points at the CCAA Championships en route to repeating as the Track Athlete of the Meet and the High Point Award winner.

Fields earned All-American honors in the 200m, 400m, 4x100m, and the 4x400m. Her best finish came in the 200m, where she placed fourth with a time of 23.18. Fields finished sixth in the 400m with a time of 53.48. She repeated as an All-American in both events from the 2022 outdoor season.

The Kinesiology major posted two more All-American honors in the relays, running the anchor leg on each team. She helped the Broncos finish sixth in the 4x100m relay and seventh in the 4x400m relay. Fields completed the NCAA Championships by earning 8.75 points for Cal Poly Pomona.

She was even better at the CCAA Championships, where she has now won all nine events she has competed in over the past two years. Fields added four more gold medals to her collection in 2023 as she stood atop the podium in the 200m, 400m, 4x100m, and 4x400m relay. Her efforts helped Cal Poly Pomona repeat as the CCAA Champions after the program had not won a title since 1998.
