Cal State San Marcos’ Breann Horn was the top CCAA finisher at the San Marcos Shootout, earning her this week’s Women’s Golfer of the Week.

For Horn, this marks her third Golfer of the Week this 2022-23 season and the eighth in her collegiate career.

The junior from Lakeside shot a three-over 147 to finish as the runner-up at CSUSM’s tournament at the Temecula Creek Inn in Temecula. Horn finished one stroke behind winner Alli Kim of Point Loma. The 10th ranked CSUSM Cougars (615) were third, five shots behind winner Simon Fraser.

Over the course of the two-day event, Horn carded a 74 and 73 behind five birdies and 24 par scores. She started out the event on Monday with two birdies out of the first three holes.

Horn twice earned the weekly award this season. First was on Sept. 28 after placing third at RJGA Shootout at Estrella in Goodyear, Ariz. She ended the fall season with another weekly honor on Oct. 29 for her win at the HPU Shark Shootout in Aiea, Hawaii.

Last season, during 2021-22, Horn captured the golfer of the week award four times. She won the award once during her freshman season in 2019.

CSUSM will be idle until the CCAA Women’s Golf Championships, April 17-19, at Victoria Club in Riverside.
