Wells, Milton III, Shuster, Knapper Collect NABC All-District Honors

The four CCAA student-athletes named to the D2CCA All-West Region Team have also been voted to the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District Team. Brandon Knapper from Cal State San Bernardino earned a first-team selection, while Jaylen Wells (Sonoma State), Greg Milton III (Cal State San Marcos), and Dontrell Shuler joined him on the second team.
 
Brandon Knapper and Dontrell Shuler helped lead Cal State San Bernardino to the CCAA regular-season and Tournament titles. The Yotes earned the most wins in program history (31) and reached the NCAA Division II semifinals.
 
Knapper was a first team All-CCAA selection and the MVP of the CCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. The senior guard finished second in the conference in scoring (19.5 ppg) and led Div. II with 113 made 3-pointers. Knapper scored in double-figures in 30 of 33 games, and only once this season did he not hit a 3-pointer. The Ontario native posted 25 or more points seven times, including 32 in the national semifinal with eight 3-pointers.
 
Shuler was the 2022-23 CCAA Newcomer of the Year after finishing fifth in the conference in scoring (16.6)and eighth in field goal percentage (.456). The Columbia, S.C. native collected a pair of CCAA Player of the Week awards and led CSUSB in minutes played. This season Shuler averaged 19.1 ppg against non-conference regional opponents, and he scored in double-figures in his first 17 games as a Yote.
 
Greg Milton III was the leading scorer for a Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team which placed second in the regular-season CCAA standings and earned its second consecutive trip to the NCAA West Regional. The senior guard finished fourth in the conference in scoring (17.1) and third in minutes played (34:46). He was second on the team in rebounding (5.0), and he shot .390 percent from 3-point range. Milton III scored a CCAA season-best 39 points in the season-opener against NCAA regional participant Saint Martin's.
 
Jaylen Wells became the first Sonoma State student-athlete to win CCAA Men's Basketball Player of the Year honors in 17 years. The sophomore forward paced the conference in scoring (22.6) and was second in rebounding (8.6). He was fourth in the CCAA in field goal percentage (.523) and tied for first in double-doubles (11). Wells scored at least 13 points in every game and topped the 30-point plateau seven times. His efforts helped Sonoma State go from the team picked last in the preseason coaches poll to earning their first berth in the CCAA Tournament since 2017.
