Cal State San Bernardino's fantastic 2022-23 season ended in the NCAA semifinals with a loss to top-seeded Nova Southeastern, 93-87. (Mar. 23)
 
CSUSB (31-4) trailed nearly the entire game as the Sharks went up by as many as 16 points (37-21) in the first half. The Yotes went cut the deficit to five (48-43) with a 13-2 run right before halftime.
 
Nova Southeastern pushed its advantage back to 14 with a 9-0 run after intermission, but again the Yotes answered. They outscored the Sharks 14-4 and got it to a one-possession game (71-68) with eight minutes to go. The game would stay at a one to two-possession contest over the next four minutes before a pair of Brandon Knapper free throws cut it to 77-75.
 
However, CSUSB could never find that game-tying basket. Each time they were within one score, the Sharks held their position. A pair of deep, contested 3-pointers by Knapper in the last 30 seconds kept the Yotes' hopes alive, but Nova went 7-for-8 from the free throw line in the final seconds to thwart the comeback.
 
Knapper finished with a game-high 32 points and eight 3-pointers. Dontrell Shuler added 18 points. Sedrick Altman and Mahmoud Fofana came off the bench to score 10 and 13 points, respectively. Kobe Rodgers led five Sharks in double-figures with 21 points.
 
Nova Southeastern will play West Liberty for the NCAA Division II Championship on Saturday, Mar. 25.
