Madison Murr is having quite a spring season. The Cal State San Marcos sophomore has snagged her third CCAA Women’s Golfer of the Week win after another great outing.
Murr finished tied for third at the Poppy Hills Patriot Invitational on Tuesday with a CCAA-best score of 217 (+4). The tournament, hosted by Dallas Baptist, was held at Poppy Hills Golf Club in Pebble Beach.
The CSUSM star from Los Alamitos shot a pair of 71s on Monday before a 75 in Tuesday’s final round to finish four strokes behind medalist Alli Kim of Point Loma. Murr scored nine birdies with 32 pars over the two-day, 54-hole event.
No. 10 Cal State San Marcos was fourth with a team total of +44, 896, which was 10 back of winner Dartmouth College.
For Murr, this was her fifth top five finish this 2022-23 season and the third time out of four spring tournaments as the top Cougar. She earned Golfer of the Week honor on Feb. 8 as a co-runner-up at Cal State Bakersfield’s The Valley Invitational. Murr was also the CCAA’s top golfer on March 1 with a runner-up finish at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout.
The Cougars will host their second tournament of the season next week, the San Marcos Shootout, at the Temecula Creek Golf Club in Temecula.
