DJ Guest of Cal State Dominguez Hills carried the Toros to two road wins as he has been selected as the CCAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, for the week of Feb. 6-12.

Guest, a sophomore from Los Angeles, averaged 24 points and 8.5 rebounds plus 1.5 assists over the weekend. He shot 46 percent from the field (13 for 28) and made 21 of 23 free throws (.910). On Thursday, with just five Toros available, Guest put up a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds to lead CSUDH over SSU. Saturday at Humboldt, Guest scored 27 points with six rebounds in the Toros’ overtime win against the Jacks.

The Toros, with just six players active on the roster for the road trip, went 2-0 with wins at fourth place Sonoma State and third place Cal Poly Humboldt. CSUDH may be on the bottom of the standings but the Toros improved to 6-12 in league play and are just four games out of third place.

Guest ranks fifth in the CCAA in rebounding at 7.2 rebounds per game. He’s also 12th in scoring with 14.3 points per contest.

Cal State Dominguez Hills, which snapped a seven-game losing streak, will host Cal State San Marcos on Thursday and its regular season home finale on Saturday against Cal State LA.
