Jordan Vasquez of CSUSM posted two double-doubles to win Player of the Week award

Jordan Vasquez averaged a double-double as she led Cal State San Marcos to a pair of wins to earn this week’s CCAA Women’s Basketball Player of the Week award.

Vasquez turned in two double-double games and averaged 16.5 points and 13 rebounds per contest as the Cougars beat Cal State LA and Cal State Dominguez Hills. The senior forward from Moreno Valley shot 58 percent from the field (14-for-24) and pulled 26 rebounds (9 offensive, 17 defensive) with two assists and a blocked shot to lead the charge.

Against CCAA preseason favorite Cal State LA on Thursday, Vasquez scored 15 points (6-for-9) with 11 rebounds with two assists and a blocked shot. Versus the defending conference regular season champs Cal State Dominguez Hills, she posted 18 points (8-for-15) with 15 boards.

Vasquez now has five double-doubles this season and 31 in her collegiate career. This is her fourth CCAA player of the week award. She won the weekly award three times during the 2021-22 season.

Cal State San Marcos (5-2, 2-0 CCAA) continues its home-stand with two more conference games at The Sports Center this week. The Cougars host Cal Poly Humboldt Thursday and Chico State on Saturday.
