With a double-double average, Sonoma State’s Alli McDonald has been selected as the CCAA Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, for games played Dec. 14-19.

McDonald contributed 22.5 points and pulled 10.5 rebounds per game in Sonoma State’s two-game split against Simon Fraser in Rohnert Park. She shot 50 percent (16-for-32) from the floor with three three-pointers and converted on 10 of 12 free throws. McDonald also had seven assists, three steals and blocked a shot in two games.

The junior forward from Diamond Springs scored a season high 27 points and nine rebounds in Monday’s 85-80 win over SFU. The next day, McDonald posted her sixth double-double of the season with 18 points and 12 rebounds in the 75-72 loss to the Red Leafs.

This is McDonald’s second player of the week honor this season and her fifth in her career over the past two seasons. She was named the CCAA’s top player on Nov. 20 after leading the Seawolves to two dominant wins over GNAC opponents on the road.

Sonoma State, which improved to 9-3 overall, resumes conference play on New Year’s Eve at Cal State San Marcos.
