Emily Elliott of Cal State LA smashes her way to Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week honor

Emily Elliott of Cal State LA has been named the CCAA Offensive Player of the Week, for the week of Oct. 30-Nov. 5. 

Elliott smashed 52 kills to lead the Golden Eagles to a pair of four-set wins over Cal State San Marcos and Cal Poly Pomona. She averaged 6.5 kills per set and tallied 61 points (7.63 per set). Elliott also added 15 digs, three service aces and 10 blocks as LA keeps pace with front-runner Cal State San Bernardino.

The junior right-side hitter from Costa Mesa had a season-high 27 kills and 30 points in the win over CSUSM on Friday. She followed it up with 25 kills and 31 points in a key win over Cal Poly Pomona on Saturday. Elliott scored the final two points of the match against the Cougars with kills and smacked the match point against the Broncos.

Elliot leads the CCAA with 391 total kills and 4.34 kills per set. She also leads the conference with 463.5 points (5.15 points per set). Cal State LA remains a game back of Cal State San Bernardino at the top of the standings. The Golden Eagles are hosting the conference tournament the week after the final two matches of the regular season this week. LA travels to face Stanislaus State and Chico State to wrap-up the campaign.
