Jeremy Dent-Smith has been selected as the CCAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, for Nov. 20-26, after leading Cal State Dominguez Hills to a pair of wins.
Dent-Smith averaged 23 points per game to lead the Toros to wins over PacWest teams last week. Overall, he shot 19-for-33 from the floor (58 percent) to go with eight rebounds, seven assists and two steals. He was also 4-for-4 from the free throw line. He made the game-winning bucket on Saturday to help CSUDH beat Biola.
In Wednesday’s 71-56 win at Concordia-Irvine, Dent-Smith scored 20 points, going 8-for-13 with four rebounds, two assists and two steals.
The sophomore guard from Hawthrowe then scored a career-high 26 points (11-for-20) with four rebounds and five assists, on Saturday in the Toros’ 80-78 win over Biola. He scored the layout with seven seconds left for the win.
Cal State Dominguez Hills, which has won four straight games to improve to 4-1, opens CCAA play this week on the road. The Toros will face Sonoma State (Thursday) and Cal State San Marcos (Saturday).
