Cal State LA’s Shane Bell has been named the CCAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, for the week of 13-19.
Bell averaged 24 points and six rebounds per game to lead the Golden Eagles to a split road trip at the Central Washington Tournament in Ellensburg, Wash. He was 17-for-27 from the floor for a solid 63 percent field goal percentage. He also converted on all 11 free throw attempts in two games. Defensively, he recorded three steals and three blocked shots to lead LA.
In Friday’s loss to host CWU, the junior guard from Hercules netted 28 points, which was just three off of his career high, on 10 of 14 shooting. Bell pulled a career-high nine rebounds and was 2 for 2 from the 3-point arch. Saturday against Northwest Nazarene, Bell scored 20 to go with three assists, a steal and a blocked shot.
CWU was picked to finish third and NNU second in the GNAC’s preseason poll.
This is Bell’s first CCAA player of the week award. It is Cal State LA’s first men’s basketball player of the week award since Jan. 10, 2022.
Cal State LA will make a short trip to face Azusa Pacific Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. before the Thanksgiving break.
