Woody Angell of CPP is Offensive Player of the Week after recording six points in one match

Woody Angell of Cal Poly Pomona has been voted as this week’s Pixellot/CCAA Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.

Angell scored twice and assisted on two goals in the Broncos’ 8-0 rout over Stanislaus State on Sunday. No. 9 Cal Poly Pomona remains undefeated at 7-0-3 overall (3-0-1 CCAA).

In just 45 minutes of play on Sunday against the Warriors, the sophomore midfielder from Alton, England, put up a brace and helped on two scores. He netted the team’s second goal in the ninth minute and assisted on the score in the 12th. In the second half, Angell helped on a CPP score in the 62nd minute and converted on the penalty kick goal in the 66th for his career day. Angell also played 59 minutes in Friday’s 2-2 draw versus Chico State.

Angell is the second consecutive Bronco to pick up his weekly award. Last week Jakob Singh was named the offensive player of the week.

Cal Poly Pomona has a big match versus No. 19 Cal State LA on Thursday before traveling to Carson to take on Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sunday.
