For the third time this season, Chico State goalkeeper Emanuel Padilla has picked up the Pixellot/CCAA Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week award.
Padilla led the Wildcats to a 1-0-1 record against two Top 25 ranked teams on the road as No. 3 Chico State remained undefeated at 9-0-2 (2-0-2 CCAA). The junior net-minder from Santa Rosa made 10 saves, six of those came against No. 9 Cal Poly Pomona, helping secure teh 2-2 draw. Against No. 25 Cal State San Bernardino on Sunday, Padilla recorded his CCAA-leading eighth shutout of the season. He preserved the clean sheet with a penalty kick save in the 84th minute. Padilla has turned away all three penalty kick tries against him.
Padilla continues to lead the conference with a .376 goals against average. He is also second with a saves percentage of .907. He has only allowed four goals in 11 matches this season.
Chico State will play at Sonoma State on Thursday before hosting Cal Poly Humboldt on Sunday.
