Tournament medalist Madison Murr has been named CCAA Women’s Golfer of the Week award after leading Cal State San Marcos to a team victory.

Murr posted a five-under par 139 to win the Sonoma State Fall Invitational at the Santa Rosa Golf and Country Club on Tuesday. She was the only player to shoot under par for the two-round event hosted by the Seawolves. Murr out-paced second place Courtney Cervellin of SSU by six strokes.

The junior from Los Alamitos shot a 71 in round one Monday and finished with a low 68 on Tuesday. The 68 ties her career best low round score and it is the lowest single round score recorded by a CCAA student-athlete this fall.

Murr also led the No. 10 ranked Cal State San Marcos Cougars to a team victory at the course to serve as the site of the 2024 CCAA Men’s & Women’s Golf Championships next April. Collectively, the Cougars carded a 585, 10 strokes better than host Sonoma State.

For Murr, this was her fourth career CCAA Golfer of the Week award. She won this weekly honor three times last season.

The next tournament for Cal State San Marcos is the Nick Turner Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M., Oct. 16-17.
