Cal State San Bernardino’s John Kim and Easton Hether of Cal State East Bay have been selected to share this week’s CCAA Men’s Golfer of the Week honors.
Kim and Hether finished tied for first at the Chico State Wildcat Classic on Tuesday. Both carded an impressive 12-under 204 in the three-round tournament held at the Butte Creek Country Club in Chico. Kim won the first playoff hole to earn the event’s individual medalist.
Kim, a junior from Palm Desert, was consistent all tournament with three 68 scores. He recorded 15 birdies and 36 pars for his tally. Hether, a sophomore from Fairfield, shot a 72 in round one before an outstanding 64 in the second round before ending up with a 68. Hether’s 64 is the lowest single round score recorded by a CCAA golfer this season. He posted nine birdies in the round.
This was Kim’s second collegiate tournament win and his second CCAA Golfer of the Week award.
Cal State San Bernardino will play in next week’s Bill Cullum Invitational hosted by CSUN in Somis, Calif. Cal State East Bay is off until Oct. 16-17 when the Pioneers play in the Otter Invitational in Seaside.
