Career-best performances leads Otters' Kea Veenendaal to Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week Oct 31, 2023 Share: Complete list of weekly winners >>> Cal State Monterey Bay’s Kea Veenendaal turned in her best block performances in back-to-back matches to earn the CCAA Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week award for Oct. 23-29. The senior from Boulder, Colo., averaged 2.29 blocks over seven sets to total 16 over the weekend. She began a seven-block performance against Sonoma State. Then, in a four-set win over Cal Poly Humboldt, Veenendaal matched her career-best with nine blocks, including two solo. Veenendaal also contributed 20 kills and a .333 hitting percentage on offense. She ranks 10th in the CCAA in hitting percentage (.293) and sixth in blocks (1.03). Click here to see the CCAA leaders. She is the first Cal State Monterey Bay student-athlete to earn a CCAA Defensive Player of the Week award since Sam Chavez in the opening week of the 2022 season.
