Cal State Monterey Bay’s Kane Ritchie has been selected as this week’s Pixellot/CCAA Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week after scoring three critical goals for the Otters.
Utilizing his reserve role to the max, Ritchie scored three goals in two contests in just a total of 74 minutes of play to lead CSUMB to a win and a draw, earning the Otters a berth into the CCAA Men’s Soccer Tournament as the No. 3 seed.
Ritchie scored a brace in Friday’s 3-1 win at Stanislaus State, helping the Otters punch a ticket to the tournament. Sunday against Chico State, Ritchie netted the equalizer in the 1-1 draw as CSUMB clinched the No. 3 seed in the postseason event.
Ritchie, a senior from Philadelphia, became the first Otter to win a CCAA Men’s Soccer player of the week award since Sept. 16, 2019 (Walmer Martinez).
After completing the regular season at SF State on Thursday, CSUMB will host a first round match at Cardinale Stadium on Sunday.
