Jassmin Ortiz of Cal State LA has been named Pixellot/CCAA Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 25- Oct. 1.
Ortiz scored two goals and had one assist on the weekend against San Francisco State and Cal State Monterey Bay. Her goal and assist against SFSU added to a definitive 4-1 win over the Gators. Ortiz’s goal on Sunday secured a 1-0 win for Cal State LA over the Otters.
In the 50th minute of the game against SFSU, Ortiz put away a penalty kick to make the score 3-0. Her assist came off of a deflected shot that allowed her teammate an easy tap-in to finalize their four-goal game. Against Monterey Bay, Ortiz found the back of the net in the first half, scoring the game-winner for the Golden Eagles. These two goals marked the first and second CSULA career goals for Ortiz.
This is Jassmin’s first career CCAA Player of the Week award. She is Cal State LA’s third winner of the award this season.
Cal State LA’s (5-1-2) next match is against Cal State East Bay on Friday at 7 p.m.
