Sonoma State’s Colin Huang emerged as the top CCAA golfer in Hawai’i after two tournaments to snag this week’s CCAA Men’s Golfer of the Week award, the final one of the fall season.

Huang tied for first at the Southwest Airlines HPU Shootout at Mauna Lani Golf Course in Waimea, Hawai’i and finished tied for third at the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate at Hapuna Golf Course, also in Waimea, Hawai’i.

At the HPU Shootout last Monday and Tuesday, Huang tied with Cal State Dominguez Hill’s Francis Bautista, each with 9-under 207 scores. Huang shot 64-76-67 in the three round event. At the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate, the junior from Newport Beach scored 5-under par 139 (67-72) to share the third place trophy with two players from Colorado Christian. Huang was the top CCAA golfer, two shots better than Bautista, who tied for sixth.

This was Huang’s second career CCAA Golfer of the Week award. He took the honor Sept. 21, 2022, after a stellar SSU debut at the NCAA West Regional Fall Preview.

Sonoma State finished eighth out of 17 teams at the Shootout and tied for 12 of 17 at the Dennis Rose Invite.
