CJ Walker of Cal Poly Pomona earns Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week award

With two wins, CJ Walker of Cal Poly Pomona’s has earned the Pixellot/CCAA Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week award.

Walker, who was making his second and third consecutive start this season, recorded a clean sheet at San Francisco State and gave up just a goal at No. 22 Cal State Monterey Bay. With two road victories, Cal Poly Pomona keeps pace with Cal State LA in the race for the regular season title.

At SF State on Friday, the senior goalkeeper from Moorpark needed just two saves behind a solid defensive line to earn the shutout win. Against CSUMB, he faced 15 shots and recorded five saves in the team’s 3-1 win. His only goal allowed came in the 56th minute of the match after CPP took a 2-0 halftime lead.

The Broncos are home this week with matches versus Cal State East Bay (Friday) and Cal State San Marcos (Sunday).
