Jack Blickenstaff helped Cal State Monterey Bay to two wins during a historical trip as he has been voted the Pixellot/CCAA Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

Blickenstaff and the Otters blanked Cal State Dominguez Hills and No. 6 Cal State LA last weekend, for the program’s first ever DH-LA road-trip sweep. The sophomore goalkeeper from Fresno came off the bench and kept the Toros scoreless with two saves in the final 51 minutes to preserve a 2-0 win on Friday. On Sunday at Cal State LA, Blickenstaff earned his first collegiate shutout and recorded a career-high seven saves in the Otters’ 2-0 win.

Cal State Monterey Bay improved to 6-1-2 overall and opened CCAA play 2-0-0 for the program’s best start since 2019. The win at LA also ended the Golden Eagles’ unbeaten streak during regular season play at 16. It was also LA’s first CCAA loss in 10 matches, dating back to last season.

CSUMB hosts Sonoma State and Cal Poly Humboldt this week at Cardinale Stadium with matches on Friday and Sunday.
