Fane Paua wins second straight Defensive Player of the Week award for East Bay

For the second consecutive week, a Cal State East Bay Pioneer laid claim to the title of CCAA Defensive Player of the Week. (Oct. 9-15)

Fane Paua was a force at the net in both wins over Cal State Monterey Bay. The sophomore recorded 14 blocks, seven in each match, to help CSUEB extend its season-best winning streak to six matches. She also had four digs and hit .333 with 12 kills. 

Paua opened the week with a three-kill, seven-block effort in a home sweep. She then went on the road and matched a season-high with nine kills and seven blocks in a five-set win. 

The Oakland native now ranks ninth in the CCAA with 0.95 blocks per set. Click here to see the CCAA leaders.

Cal State East Bay will go on the road this coming week to face Cal State Dominguez Hills on Friday (Oct. 20) and Cal State LA on Saturday (Oct. 21).
