Cal State San Marcos’s Nani Kia’aina has been named Pixellot/CCAA Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 9-15.
Kia’aina had two game-winning assists against Cal State Monterey Bay and San Francisco State this past weekend. Both of her assists contributed to San Marcos beating both the Otters and Gators 2-0.
Kia’aina’s first assist came in the 20th minute of play against CSUMB. She received a pass at the top of the box and redistributed it to her teammate between two of Monterey Bay’s defenders. Against SFSU, she made a pass up the right side of the field to her teammate that went on to put the ball in the back of the net.
She currently leads her team with five assists this season. The sophomore from Torrance is also tied for the most assists in the conference and leads the CCAA with 0.45 assists per game.
This Kia’aina’s first career CCAA Player of the Week award and the first for the Cougars since 2016.
Cal State San Marcos (7-2-3) plays next in a conference match against Sonoma State on Friday at 12:30 p.m.
