Malia Allen of Stan State snags Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of Week award with 21 saves

Malia Allen of Stanislaus State has been named the Pixellot/CCAA Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 9-15.

Allen had an impressive 21 saves in two games. Her first 10 saves were made against Cal Poly Humboldt (10-1-2) on Thursday. She snagged five of those saves in the first 11 minutes of the second half and recorded her last save in the 89th minute to preserve the 0-0 tie. Against Sonoma State on Sunday, she recorded a career-high 11 saves to maintain the Warriors 3-1 win. She made seven saves in critical moments in the second half. 

The junior from Manteca boasts a .889 saves percentage and has played all 90 minutes in Stanislaus State’s last three games.

This is Allen’s first career CCAA Player of the Week award. She is the first to win the award since the 2022 season.

Stanislaus State (5-5-3) plays in its next conference match against Cal State Dominguez Hills on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
