CCAA scoring leader Makayla Rose scored 25 or more points twice as she has earned another CCAA Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honor.
The Stanislaus State guard averaged 26.5 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals per game as the Warriors split their road trip last weekend. Stan State lost at No. 6 Cal State Dominguez Hills Thursday and defeated Cal State East Bay on Saturday.
Against the then-undefeated Toros, Rose lite-up the boards with 28 points on 10 of 20 shooting. She was also 8 of 14 at the free throw line to go with three rebounds and two assists. Two days later, the freshman from Roseville dropped 25 points (12 for 17) against the Pioneers with six steals, four assists and five rebounds.
Rose has scored 25 or more points three times this season, including three times over the past five contests. She scored a career-high 38 on Jan. 14 against Cal Poly Pomona. She had picked up her first player of the week award on Nov. 28 after averaging 22.5 points per game.
Rose continues to lead the CCAA in scoring, averaging 19.5 per clip. She’s also second in steals at 3.0 per game. Her shooting percentage of 44.3 is sixth best in the conference.
Stanislaus State returns home to host Cal Poly Humboldt on Thursday and Sonoma State on Saturday.
