For the second straight week, and the third time this season, Cal State Dominguez Hills’ Dawnyel Lair has been selected as the CCAA Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Lair led the Toros to two more victories, extending CSUDH’s perfect season to 18-0 (12-0 CCAA). The Toros defeated Cal State LA and No. 18 Cal State San Marcos on the road last week.

The senior guard averaged 20.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. Lair also averaged 2.5 assists and four steals per contest. She also shot 71 percent from the field each game.

On Thursday, the Los Angeles native scored 17 points with six rebounds plus five steals and three assists to lead CSUDH over Cal State LA. Saturday against No. 18 CSUSM, Lair put-up a double-double with 24 points and 13 rebounds. Her biggest highlight of the game was when she blocked a potential game-winning three-pointer at the buzzer. 

Lair leads the CCAA in field goal percentage (.645) and steals (3.5 per game). She’s also third in assists (3.9), third in rebounding (8.5) and fourth in scoring (15.2 ppg).

Cal State Dominguez Hills will host Stanislaus State (Thursday) and Chico State (Saturday) this week.
