AUGUSTA, GA --
Dawnyel Lair of Cal State Dominguez Hills was named the women's basketball Division II Player of the Week by the D2CIDA on Tuesday. The senior guard from Los Angeles, Calif., had two double-doubles last week for the 14th-ranked Toros as they remained undefeated at 16-0 on the season.
Lair opened with 19 points and 14 rebounds in an 83-66 win over Cal State Monterey Bay, hitting six of eight field goals with five steals and three assists. She followed that up with 20 points and 17 rebounds in a 77-65 win over San Francisco State, adding six assists and five steals. For the week, she averaged 19.5 points and 15.5 rebounds, shot 60% from the field with 5.0 steals and 4.5 assists per game.
She is currently ranked fourth in the CCAA in rebounding and is seventh in scoring and second in assists. She leads the conference in steals and field goal percentage.

Lair is the first CCAA women's basketball student-athlete to earn D2CIDA Division II Player of the Week honors since Cal State San Marcos' Jordan Vasquez in 2021-22.
