Dawnyel Lair averaged a double-double as she led No. 14 Cal State Dominguez Hills to two more wins, earning her another CCAA Women’s Basketball Player of the Week award.
Lair averaged 19.5 points and 15.5 rebounds in CSUDH’s two victories as the Toros remain undefeated at 16-0 overall and 10-0 in CCAA play. The senior guard put-up 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds plus three assists and five steals in the team’s win over Cal State Monterey Bay on Thursday. On Saturday, Lair scored 20 points and pulled 17 boards to go with six assists and five steals against San Francisco State.
For the two games, Lair went 12 for 20 (60 percent) and made 15 of 26 free throws to tally 39 points. Of her 31 rebounds, 10 were offensive, 21 defensive. She also accumulated nine assists and 10 steals.
Lair leads the CCAA in field goal percentage at .631 and tops with steals with 3.4 per game. She is second in assists (4.2 apg), fourth in rebounding (8.3 rpg) and seventh in scoring (14.3 ppg).
Cal State Dominguez Hills looks to extend its winning streak with a pair of road games at Cal State LA Thursday and at Cal State San Marcos on Saturday.
