Sonoma State’s Alli McDonald picks up second consecutive and third Player of the Week award

Sonoma State’s Alli McDonald has earned a second consecutive CCAA Women’s Basketball Player of the Week award, this time for the week of Jan. 2-8.

McDonald averaged 19 points and eight rebounds per game to lead the Seawolves to two more victories, extending their winning streak to six games.

The sophomore from Diamond Springs had 15 points, three rebounds and three assists in last Thursday’s win over San Francisco State. On Saturday, the forward put-up 23 points and 13 rebounds for a double-double, plus four assists with two blocker shots, to help SSU beat Cal State Monterey Bay. It was her fifth double-double this season.

McDonald, who has now been named player of the week three times, leads the CCAA in rebounding at 9.3 per game. She’s also third in field goal percentage (49.9) and second in blocked shots (1.4).

Sonoma State, which moved up to 5-3 in conference play, hosts Cal State San Marcos and Cal State LA this week.
