Sonoma's Julia Pritchard earns Defensive Player of the Week Sep 7, 2022 Share: Complete list of weekly winners >>> Sonoma State’s Julia Pritchard was voted the CCAA Defender of the Week for the week of Aug. 29-Sept. 4. Pritchard helped lead Sonoma State to a pair of regional wins while outscoring opponents 8-1. The reigning CCAA Defender of the Year posted points in each victory and helped the Seawolves earn a crucial win over No. 10, Western Washington. In Tuesday’s match against ART U, the senior registered an assist and was a key defender in the 6-0 shutout. Against No. 10 Western Washington, Pritchard put the Seawolves up early when she converted a penalty kick in the 26th minute. After SSU retook the lead in the 52nd minute, Pritchard helped anchor a defense that limited the Vikings to just two shots on goal over the final 38 minutes as the Seawolves won the top 25 matchup 2-1. This is the first career CCAA weekly honor for Pritchard. Sonoma State will travel to Turlock on Thursday, Sept. 8, to face Stanislaus State in a non-conference matchup. The Seawolves will head to Point Loma on Wednesday, Sept. 14, to close out its non-conference schedule. CCAA play will begin Saturday, Sept. 17, against San Francisco State.
