Eliza Cannon of Cal State LA has been named the CCAA Setter of the Week, for the week of Aug. 29-Sept. 4, after leading the Golden Eagles.
Cannon posted impressive all-around numbers, notably with 119 assists over four matches where the Golden Eagles played 13 sets. Cannon averaged 9.15 assists per set with a percentage of .338.
The junior from Santa Ana posted three matches with 30 assists or more during the team’s outing at its own Golden Eagle Classic. Cal State LA’s only setback was against Central Washington on Thursday before rolling off three straight wins Friday and Saturday.
Cannon led the LA offense to attacking percentages of .278, .298, and .307 in the three victories.
Cannon also smashed 16 kills, including seven spikes against Seattle Pacific on Friday. She added 34 digs, six aces and four total blocks to her tally. In all, Cannon accounted for 24.5 points in four matches. She was named to the All-Tournament team at the Golden Eagle Classic.
Cal State LA opens CCAA play this week, at home, as it hosts Stanislaus State (Friday) and Chico State (Saturday).
