Toros' David Aguilera captures Defensive Player of the Week award Sep 7, 2022 Share: Complete list of weekly winners >>> For his efforts in helping lead Cal State Dominguez Hills to a pair of wins and the No. 10 ranking in the country, David Aguilera has been selected as the CCAA Defensive Player of the Week. (Aug. 29-Sept. 4) The senior captain played a team-leading 176 minutes, and the Toros never trailed en route to two wins over PacWest opponents. Against Biola, CSUDH went up 2-0 before the Eagles broke through for the only goal the Toros have allowed at home all season. On Saturday against Point Loma, the Anaheim native played all 90 minutes as the Toros posted their second shutout of the season in a 2-0 win. Cal State Dominguez Hills remains one of four undefeated teams in the CCAA. It was the first to reach four wins (4-0-0), and the Toros rank 18th in NCAA Division II with 0.50 goals against average. Aguilera and the Toros will leave California for the only time during the regular season this weekend when they travel to Monmouth, Ore., for a pair of games. CSUDH will face Western Oregon on Friday and Saint Martin’s on Sunday.
