Defending conference and regional champion Kaela Dishion of Stanislaus State has earned the season’s first Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week award.

Dishion raced to an impressive third place finish at the USF Invitational at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco on Saturday. Dishion clocked in at 20:59.8 to lead the 11th ranked Stan State women to a third place team finish.

Against a mainly Division I field, Dishion finished behind two Stanford athletes, 11 seconds behind winner Riley Stewart and just a second back of runner-up Lucy Jenks. With three runners in the top 18, the Warriors came in third behind Stanford and USF.

This is Dishion’s second career CCAA Runner of the Week award. The senior from Murphys won the award last Sept. 20-26. Dishion led Stan State to a CCAA team championship last November.

Stanislaus State is back in action on Saturday when the Warriors host the annual Kim Duyst Cross Country Invitational in Ceres.
